Michael Christopher has announced two dates with country star Deana Carter in February! The shows are scheduled for February 12 and February 13 at Pennington’s in Jewett, OH. Both events, featuring a stripped down, acoustic vibe, are already sold out.
Over the past year, Michael has included a fair amount of solo acoustic shows in his schedule, having introduced some new cover songs to the audience.
“One night at home, I was playing guitar and randomly decided to play Deana Carter’s classic, ‘Strawberry Wine’”, Michael says. “It felt kind of unique to put a man’s perspective on the song so I tried it out at a few shows, the first being a winery.”
The song was incredibly well received at each show, and so Michael decided to take it a step further.
“I thought I’d try recording it with session musicians that I know in Nashville,” he shares. “I’m pretty happy with how it turned out as it puts a modern spin on the song while maintaining its iconic roots.”
Deana Carter broke through into the country music mainstream in 1996 with the release of her debut album, ‘Did I Shave My Legs For This?’, which was certified 5x platinum in the United States.
Later that year, she released her debut single, “Strawberry Wine”, which reached #1 on the U.S. Billboard hot Country Singles & Tracks. It was also nominated for a Grammy Award and multiple ACM Awards, as well as CMA Awards, including a win for Single Of The Year.
Overall, Carter has released five full length albums, accounting for 14 singles, including two additional No. 1 hits – “We Danced Anyway” and “How Do I Get There”.
